The Montgomery County Historical Society provides
educational programs to both K-12 students and
adults.
From Spring through Fall, we present monthly Sunday
afternoon programs on a variety of topics. In
addition, special workshops, events, and parties are
scheduled throughout the year. The Montgomery
County History Center has a variety of meeting rooms
and large lecture hall that can accommodate
almost any event or party.
It has been a busy year for the History Center, so we
guess that it is only fitting that we finish the year in
a big way. November 21th, the History Center hosted
Red Oak Chamber of Commerce “Scrooge,
Christmas Season Kick-off” and then on the 25th we
hosted the Chamber’s coffee.
We are going to be hosting another coffee on
December 30th, be sure to attend.
On December 6th from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm will be
Touchstone’s Victoria Tea.
Then on December 13th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, we
will be having a coffee in honor of Paul McCoy, long
time volunteer and valuable member of the
Montgomery County Historical Society, everyone is
invited. There will be food and refreshments. Plus
we will be having two guest authors presenting.
They are locals and will be talking about their books
and what they went through to get their work
published. It should be very interesting. The both
authors will have copies of their books for sale and
they will be available to sign copies, a great
Christmas gift idea.
The History Center is decked out inside for the
Christmas Season, plus we have a nice display of
antique toys to help set the mood. We are open
Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 4:00 P. M.
and but if you stop by there is usually someone
around in the morning to let you in also.
The Montgomery County Historical Society has had a
great year and attendance it way up, but we want
more people to come and visit, and to get involved.
We keep telling people are not only a museum; we
have research material available, lecture services
available, and facilities and space to rent if you want
to have an event. We are able to handle many types
of functions.
We would like to thank all those people and
organization that have helped this year and in the
past. Red Oak Express, Villisca Review, Stanton
Viking, Valley News Today, Farmer’s Merc.,
Hardware Hank, Fifield Furniture, the Murphy family,
the Wilsons, Red Oak Library, Wilson Performing
Arts, the Depot, Touchstone, KCSI, and the list goes
on and on. There are just too many to list them all.

Halloween 'Trick or Treat' and Costume Party
The Trick or Treat and Halloween Party went well. Thank you to everyone that pitched in to make this successful and who attended the party. Hopefully, everyone had a good time and this will become an annual event. We had some pretty scary characters. Here are a few pictures of the events.
